What should a portfolio contain?

This is a thorny issue, and I'd like to start a discussion it.
A photographer's portfolio is much more "up to them" as they are showing off their talents, egos, skills, etc.
A model's portfolio, on the other hand, has to show off what she/he can do for the client, photographer, or other person's egos <G>
In that respect, the model's portfolio is not about the best images, it's about the best "image" you can put forward.
